Maternal Most Distant Ancestor

I have a quick question. Who should I list as my maternal most distant ancestor? Would that be my mother's mother's mother.... or my Mother's paternal line?

yes it would be the mothers of mothers as far back as you can go.

It is this most distant ancestor that would have given you (or tester) your Mitochondrial (mtDNA) Haplogroup
