Genetic Distance/HVR1-2

If one has a genetic distance of 3 with matches at the FMS level but those matches are absent on the HVR1/2 match list, does this suggest or indicate that the mismatches are located in one or both of these regions? Or does it indicate mismatches within the set of extra mutations? Or could it be a combination of both scenarios? Thanks

The situation you outline means that the 3 mutations are within the Coding Region rather then the Hypervariable Regions.
