Unsupported Subclades

So I used the haplogroup predictor and one of the options under my predicted haplogroup subclade is "Unsupported Subclade" which is explained as "Warning: Values of fitness (or relative fitness) are rather small, so results are not too confident. It is possible that its haplogroup is not supported by current version of predictor, or haplotype really belong to some supported haplogroup, but it is rare or too distant branch, which is not sufficiently represented in samples used by predictor."

So what generally happens if someone tested and popped up with something rare or too distant of a branch? Do they get assigned their own special subclade code and just kind of wait until tests pick up a few more people who test with this subclade before it becomes an official twig on a tree with genetic genealogists chomping to figure out where it originated from?

How does that work?

Predictions are just that

A unproven guess at a subclade. To prove any of them, you must test for SNP's.
