[/FONT]I am one of the L3e1a members and would like to learn of the origins of the other L3e1a member. Does this mean that we are a match on both HRV 1 and HRV2 scales? Kris

Haplogroup Matches

Hi Kris,

You share an haplogroup assignment but not necessarily an HVR1/HVR2 match.

Hi Lincoln,

Thanks for getting this forum up for communicating! How did you figure out the parenthetic haplogroup for the L3* and general L3 listings? Last time I checked I was still a general L3 (Kit N9561). Have you figured me out? From various diagrams I've seen I'm thinking L3e and possibly L3e3. My stand out mutation is 16265T. On the global database matches I match some L3 and some L3e3. Is it true that FTDNA is revamping the designations? If so, do you know when they'll get to us L3s?

Thanks,

Sonia,

try checking the following thread:

http://www.ftdna.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1210

If you look at vraatyah's message (who is an expert on mtdna), he clearly classifies you as L3e3, as you say, based on 16265T.

If you are interested in knowing the distribution of L3e3 in Africa, you can check:

http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/AJH...024272.web.pdf

which states that L3e3 is primarily West African.

Hi Cacio,
Thanks for pointing me back to the thread and the article reference. I think I finally figured out how to subscribe to a thread so I can find my way back. I knew I'd seen the L3e3 someplace, but couldn't remember where
