Public website; html for link to anchor on same page

I want to add a table of contents for my News and Results pages.

Here's the code I'm using -- can anyone there help me, because it's not working:

For the link: <a href="#dec2004" target="_self">December 2004</a>

For the anchor: <a id="dec2004">December 2004</a>

Are both the link and anchor on the same page? They look correct. Did you try a different browser? Maybe the FTDNA site, doesn't allow these types of things. Maybe give "name" a shot instead of "id", though it shouldn't matter.

Yes, both on same page. No browser working properly

The "name" seems to be getting me closer. In addition, I think it's now the path that is the problem. Because when I changed it to this:
<a href="https://www.familytreedna.com/public/stokesburyDNAproject/default.aspx?section=news/#dec2004" target="_self">December 2004</a>

At least it's taking me somewhere, it's just blank. Think this is something to do with the default.aspx?section thing?

Hey, Thanks so much!

It seems to be working now. The "name" was the key. Tested in Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
Here's the code:

for link: <a href="#dec2004" target="_self">December 2004</a>
note: in design mode: select the December 2004, then enter #dec2004 into the link box, which is accessed by clicking on the icon that looks like a chain in the tool bar.

for anchor: <a name="dec2004">December 2004</a>
note: in html mode: enter the anchor line of code.
