Here are my results . I am surprised by the number of Jewish/Ashkenazim second populations. As far as i have traced my ancestry back i know of no Jewish ancestry. I am guessing they are a bad fit. FN 49571

You and me alike.

In fact, the Ashkenazi that shows and Jewish is to do with DNA. So it may be that your immediate ancestors were not religious but their ancestors origins were within Jewish communities.

I also believed that Jews were completely endogamous that's what is taught.
But apparently not.

I think people with such admixtures probably come from those of half Jewish heritage. Meaning we wont know whom was practicing Judaism as we are of mixed heritage. And due to the fact they are mixed, they may leave the religion altogeather.

If you look at it like a giant tree rather than a direct formation it should make more clear picture.

If that makes sense?

I would tend to trust single population estimates more. Two population estimates are more relevant if the single population estimate does not make genealogical sense or if ones known ancestors come from more than one population. The inclusion of Ashkenazim may simply reflect some Mediterranean origins. For example, Jews and southern Italians have very similar patterns--they both show significant West Asian and Mediterranean components.

Hello,

I've tried the MDLP World and MDLP World-22 on Genesis, and here's what I got. I have 50% NE French ancestry + 50% S.Italian ancestry. No Jewish ancestry. I suppose the Jew percentage reflects the S.Italian ancestry (?). Any thoughts? And what the hell is "Jew Francestrale"?

Don't know much about MDLP but your two population estimates are clearly the closest. (numbers). Probably Sephardic

Just a guess but Francestrale might mean French Ancestral for people no longer living in France.

Hadn't thought of that but that'd make sense.

Mdlp is a global calculator and attempts to break your results down into different parts of the world. It’s good as an overview, but if, for example, you already know you’re European, it’s probably unnecessary. It’s also heavy on ancient groups. The blog for this project is found here: http://magnusducatus.blogspot.com/
I'm currently reading this interesting thread (not finished yet): Comparing Jewish and Southern Italian results and what I'm curious about is if people with S.Italian ancestry and no known Jewish heritage show similar percentages (40-50%) on MDLP.
I have no contact with my paternal family, don't know much about them at all, so I have no way of knowing if there's any Jewish ancestry (however ancient) on that side of the family.

I'm not sure about MDLP. Eurogenes is better if one is looking for Jewish ancestry. With Eurogenes it is not likely that non Jews would have the same outcome. Also try My Heritage

I heard MH is completely unreliable. They give me 16.2% North African SJ. MO gives me zero SJ or JD, and 19% Middle East + 17% SE Europe (zero Iberian). Eurogenes gives me some Sephardi and Samaritan as secondary population, between 20-35% (but I also got Lebanese Muslim, Lebanese Christian, Syrian etc. instead of SJ). Eurogenes K15 V2 Oracle gives me a lot of Spanish when I have zero Spanish ancestry.
In short, I suppose it's another case of S.Italian interpreted as SJ or Middle-Eastern?

You have some Sephardic ancestry, That's what Eurogenes shows. Some Sephardic Jews have a Spanish component. That's probably where your Spanish comes from. You also have a non Jewish Levantine component--typical of Sicily. It is not an either or, Sicilians have Levantine origins to some extent. Suggest MH. It has some problems, but I think it will be of value in your case---wouldn't hurt. I do not trust MO and I am not alone.
