When does a project get a link from the "surnames" page

I've been trying to crank up a dual geographical project on the Philippines. I got my administrator login, and have created a simple homepage. I have a couple of tests who want to join, and I have given them the link, but I don't know how anyone else will every learn about the project; we don't seem to have a link on the "surnames" page. Am I missing something obvious?

I'm not 100% sure about this, but you may need at least one member in the project with results for it to show up in the list. At least I think that was the case with my surname project. Do you have your own results yet and have you added yourself to the project?

Maybe I need a chicken before the egg

I intended to get my wife's test in immediately; then we got murdered with an unexpected tax bill, so I had to put it off a month. In the mean time I got some people interested, and so I need a way to add them.
I'll add myself and see what happens.

When you first start a project it is hidden by default. I believe if you want to make it public, you have to contact FTDNA admin.

I never had to ask FTDNA to make my surname project public in the surname list or my geo project public in the geo list. I don't think there's a such thing as hidden/private projects.

Project websites, on the other hand, are not available until the project admin makes it available.

A project has to have one member before it will be listed.

I just started a new project, and can say with confidence that my project was not listed in the Surname Project list until I checked the appropriate box on the Project Profile page. The box was, by default, unchecked when the project was created even though I was already a member.

Yep, you're right! You definitely don't have to ask FTDNA to do it for you, but you do have to check it on the Project Profile page:

Show group in Surname Project list? __
