    H4a1...Genetic Distance?

Apparently my haplogroup is rare. I only have 1 match at the HVR1 and HVR2 levels on FTDNA and no matches at the coding regions level.

In my mitosearch matches (search by mutations) I have a column called Mutational Difference. Is this the same as genetic difference? If not where do I find the genetic difference? Am I correct that to be a perfect match the mutations need to be identical? If the difference is say +1, how far back would the common ancestor be? Why aren't all matches my same haplogroup? Why doesn't mitosearch include the coding regions?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get a handle on all of this.

    Genetic distance

    Hi Traxie,
Genetic distance is the count of how many mutations you have from your matches. So one GD =1 mutation from your match. On average that is 100 generations but mtdna is very variable.
You could try joining the H4 project at ftdna (search through the project list and it is in mtdna haplogroups)and perhaps you will get some guidance.
