This is misinformation there was indeed a route through Egypt although the one via the Arabian peninsula was earlier. The daily mail is a bad source.

You are definitely right!
I just wondered, why the Genographic Project posted such a bad source via their Facebook list today? Daily mail is perhaps like the German Bild Zeitung...? Haha!
