DNA Admixture in the English (from the tv show "Are You 100% English?")
Did you ever see the tv show about dna admixture in England?
The tv show was called "Are You 100% English?" (or, that is the title given on youtube). Someone posted about it on here last year. I found links on youtube for each segment. Part one of five: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlTks9toOmQ Part two of five: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFPc_...eature=related Part 3 of 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1hHO...eature=related Part 4 of 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Wu5...eature=related Part 5 of 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33mPm...eature=related |

My English is mostly just my mtDNA U5b2 (11653G). I'm actually a cocktail of European strains. But my U5b2 would seem to go back to before the Anglo-Saxons & before the Celts, or any other variety of Indo-Europeans. I'm thinking my U5b2 was there during the Stonehenge Culture and earlier.

RE apparent trend of thread
It's not just a matter of racism. I see on an apparently "Black" project that there is an entry who has a maternal HVR1 (no further testing) that looks to lead back to Stinehenge!

![]() I don't doubt that any African American people have European (or any other for that matter) Y-lines or mt-lines. There are many clips on youtube of African American stars getting their family trees looked into. African American Lives. I think was the name. |

Thanks for the links, that was pretty funny. My favorite part is how each person makes it their own call to determine who is English and then they conveniently make changes to work it in their favor even though the test clearly reveals something compeletly different. Pretty much can say it's arrogance and ignorance; not so much racism per se. I'm 100% human... then again...

Actually, I was surprised, when all this started with my DNA tests, to find out I had any or much English in me. My mother's mother, where it came from, didn't get along with that side of her family (because she married an Austrian?) and never talked about them. And my mother was mostly ignorant about them. So it is basically up to my mtDNA U5b2 to convince me that I have English in me (along with some subsequent "paper trail" clues).

The political motivation behind that show is pretty obvious from the outset. We've had forty years or more of the same sort of thing here.

Dr. Gates is a primary example....

My grandfather was an African American, which makes me an African American too. My phenotype states otherwise and that is why people NEVER believe me when I tell them. We conducted a DNA 2.5 admix for my mother and found that she was 40% African American (according to that test) which leads me to believe that her African line was only mildly adulterated with Euro or other dna. Most African Americans carry other dna in their admix. |
