Smile Can anyone help interpret my results please?

Hi guys,
I'm new to DNA testing;my family aren't too interested in ancestry etc so it's been hard to create a family tree and find out my past. The only bits of info I have found is that my g-grandad was an orphan, but that orphanage is no longer there, and my g-grandmother was speculated to be a traveller. Mothers side, my g-grandad was supposedly from a town near Glasgow and my g-g-grandmother's family all came over from Ireland, called the 'black irish' due to their hair apparently...

This is all I could glean from my family, with only the irish part being almost certain. So when I came to do my DNA test, I wanted to find out roughly what makes me up. I did a family finder test in ftDNA, imported to Gedmatch, DNA.Land and MyHeritage to get a broad view of my ancestry. However, I find it hard to interpret my results and was hoping someone could help.

Family Tree DNA:
99% European;
  • 21% British Isles
  • 78% West and Central Europe

31.5% Scandinavian
7.3% Irish, Scottish, and Welsh
4.6% North African
1.1% Nigerian

Can anyone explain to me in simple terms what this all means and which I should focus on please? They all seem to say radically different things, or at least it seems so to me.

It makes it very hard to do this stuff when no one in your family is interested haha.

Thank you!

EDIT: This thread posted twice for some odd reason, and it won't let me edit the other. Decided to post my results in text format so I don't have to wait for approval.

According to this analysis you are just slightly more Irish than West Scottish, and slightly more so than Orcadian (Orkney Islands) and then your next highest is SE England.

The numbers aren't that different. My interpretation is that your recent ancestors are from the British Isles.

On the 4-popn analysis one of my close relatives came up with Irish, SW England, Austrian and West Scottish.....I thought that summed it up pretty safetly and chances are all his ancestors 500 years ago were were born within that quadrangle.

Ah OK, thank for your reply. I thought that's what it meant but with results on others being different, I wasn't sure if the Irish population had anything else in it. Its just strange family tree DNA said 0% Scandinavian and my Heritage gave me a 50%+ Scandinavian from the same kit.
