Full Sequence batches 833 and 843

Both batches have been put off numerous times.

Batch 833 was batched on 2-12-18 and batch 843 was batched on 3-19-18.

I have called the last two times they were extended and was told each time the results would be in within a week and that there were no problems. It's now been two months since the first call.

Of course they are busy, but the oldest batches should be completed first.

Batch 841

My mtDNA was batched 3-12-18, and dates were pushed: 5-21-18 to 6-7-18. As in previous posts from other people, I donít think the batches are processed in numerical order. My Y-DNA37 & mtDNAplus were in the same batch along with my FamilyFinder. I got my FamilyFinder results on time (4-17-18), but am still waiting for my Y-DNA haplogroup/SNPs to be reviewed (5-3-18).

Y-DNA and mtDNA take longer than atDNA.

mtDNA Batch 817

My wife ordered a mtdna test, it was batched 12/29/2017, now we have a new date: 05/21/2018 - 06/04/2018.

Anyone knows when will be the results out?.

It could literally be any day. It's mostly a matter of when it passes the quality control stage. If the results have no-calls, depending on the test, they'll get more of your sample out to re-test. Then it goes to quality control again. It keeps going until the results are right. I recently heard on these forums that autosomal results are allowed to have up to 4% no-calls but Y and mtDNA are not allowed to have any. That's because SNPs must be read to ensure that the correct haplogroup is assigned.

And they are.

However!
  • There are at least seven (7) different tests that use different equipment and have very different schedules.
  • Batch is just a number assigned to the week the process started, and as mentioned above each type of the test has its own timeline.
  • The only common step is the extraction of DNA, but that is only for new samples; and even with that step some kits require that the extraction process is retried.
  • There are many hundreds of kits that start processing each week, those kits that need to be redone for whatever reason they do not stop the entire processing, so yes those who started later might finish sooner without anything being processed out of sequence.

I am not saying that communication could not be better! I am only providing the facts.

Yes. If there are delays, it is more than likely due to the quality of the sample itself and has nothing to do with FTDNA. They do the best they can with what you provide. Smokers, for example, sometimes need to re-swab up to a few times before the test will give good results.

On another note, I just got results for my mtDNA full sequence yesterday (5/14/18) afternoon, almost a month earlier than expected (6/11/18). Testing took about 3 weeks.

Batch 841

I got my mtDNA Plus results last night, May 14, one week earlier than the expected 5-21-18 to 6-07-18 range of dates.

Batch 844

Yeah, I just got the dreaded update delaying my full sequence mtdna a second time. It batched on 3/21. Now expected dates are 5/30-6/13.
Now I'm concerned that something was wrong with my sample.
