Odd, because there doesn't seem to be a problem shipping FTDNA or My Heritage kits to Germany. I have german distant cousin matches from both of those countries.

I believe that I once read that 70% of FTDNA's users are from the USA. I know there are a lot of british, irish, scandinavian and finnish people in the database. And there are very few germans.

My FTDNA and My Heritage results are fairly similar to each other (my Ancestry results are the problem). My Heritage has a update to their ethnicity calculator due for later this year.

ISOGG'S Autosomal DNA Comparison chart gives FTDNA an estimated 700,000 autosomal customers... still too low in my opinion. Afterall, My Heritage is claiming nearly 1.1 million customers.

With luck, you can get matches that share a common ancestor with you from the 1500's/1600's (up to 20 generations ago). On other branches of your tree, it will only go back 4 or 5 generations.
