Multiple Autosomal DNA Match Sources

A common complaint or point of confusion that I see often from users when importing autosomal match data into a spread sheet is that it can be difficult and confusing. People often go through gyrations of cutting and pasting of data and color coding overlapping segments. As a programmer when I saw what my sisters were doing in our family search for the birth family of my father, I was appalled. There just had to be an easier way -- Thus DNAMatch for the iPad.

DNAMatch currently imports...

I think one of the most useful improvements that FTDNA has made recently is the ability to download of all your Autosomal matches with the Chromosome Browser. This works extremely well with DNAMatch for the iPad. You can view a video of the process at the support web site, http://www.dnamatch4ipad.com

I have been researching Jewish Seidler/Zeidler/Zaidler families in the hope of finding connections between them. The link below shows the families I have found. I do not know if any of these families are related,
but if you are in one of them, please contact me:

X dna versus Autosomal

Posted 12th February 2013 at 08:12 PM by marietta

Most autosomal dna will take you back up to 6 generations, with exceptions of course. But X dna with the requisite cms and snps (which are sometimes lower than autosomal) will it take you back farther?? Anyone had any results matching with Chrome 23 -X?

Posted 27th December 2011 at 10:27 AM by nathanm (DIY Genetics)

After months of experimenting, here are the first results I'm comfortable sharing. Keep in mind much of the process is by necessity subjective: which populations and SNPs to include, how many components to analyze (K), how to group and sort the populations, and assigning names to the components. What's absolutely objective is the percent of each component for the populations. Those are calculated by the algorithm in Admixture, based on genetic similarity. The Admixture runs took between 24 minutes...
